23" French bisque character toddler by SFBJ circa 1915 This sweetest chubby character toddler is made by SFBJ doll factory, using Jumeau Molds. She has very recognizable face and resembles to the most Desirable Toddler Doll made by SFBJ Mold 251. She is 23-24" standing The doll is in Excellent Condition considering her age with NO DAMAGES! This Darling has bisque socket head with lovely coloring and expert painting to her face. She has blue glass sleep eyes. Her blue sleep eyes are antique original, they are reset and waxed. She has painted low lashes and brows, open mouth with trembling tongue with two modeled upper teeth. She has deeply impressed dimples, chubby cheeks and chin. This girl wears her vintage pate with ash blond vintage human hair wig with long braids. Her bisque socket head has no damages such as hairlines or cracks. Her head is marked with only number 11 at the bottom of her neck. I believe the number indicates the size of this particular doll. The back of her head has a slightly rough finish at the top. It is definitely under the wig. I believe the usual manufacture markings of the head have been removed during production for possible sale of heads to other companies. We still can see very slight signs of markings. This was a coming practice for Jumeau Factory when they were offering dolls for sale to small manufactories or French department stores. The doll is in her original Antique French composition fully-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing with original paper label to the torso on the back. Body is very nice mint condition with no repairs or any damages. She strung nicely for holding a pose. Only to report that her hands are repainted and some paint touch up around her neck area. Overall the body is Great! Darling Girl is wearing beautiful fine cotton with embroidery and lace antique toddler dress. She has undergarments with shoes. She has fabulous red velvet bonnet with lace. It is not antique. But it is gorgeous.
